Though I am huge fan of outdoor activities and fitness, running has never been my thing. Oddly enough it has been a sport that I respect and am always glued to the TV when it is on during the Olympics. This was the second event I have been to that included running. The first was the half Iron Man or “Honu” in Kona, Hawaii. I can say that both times I was inspired by the accomplishment of so many people right before my eyes.
Running just over twenty-six miles seems like a daunting task, and I’m not sure if I will ever accomplishment it. What I can take away from this day is that if you set your mind to something, then you will be able to do it. I saw men, women, and children complete this race with a smile on their face and the look of defeating whatever came in their path. Some had no legs, others wore fire suits, or police uniforms. Despite these limitations the task was complete and pride was buzzing through everyone. One common goal brought these twenty-four thousand racers together with one purpose in mind. There's something miraculous about that to me.
I want to give a huge thank you to the Conqur Endurance Group for having me capture so many great moments at the finish line and Skechers for partnering with them to put on this great event.
